The 27th Modern Engineering and Technology Seminar
The Modern Engineering and Technology Seminar (METS) is a premier biennial conference hosted by the Chinese Institute of Engineers (CIE), Taiwan’s oldest and most prestigious engineering organization founded in 1912. Since its inception in 1966, METS has served as a vital bridge for national development, collaborating with CIE-USA to invite prominent Taiwanese-American experts to share cutting-edge innovations. Today, METS stands as a cornerstone for international technical exchange, consistently garnering widespread acclaim and support from the global engineering community.
Infusing engineering with human warmth and returning conferences to the essence of dialogue and exchange. Asia Concentrate Corporation was entrusted with organizing the 27th Modern Engineering and Technology Seminar (METS 2018), providing comprehensive services in visual identity design, promotional materials, venue decoration, and banquet planning. We broke away from the cold, industrial stereotype of the engineering field by placing "The Conference as a Human Dialogue" at the heart of our visual design. This vision was brought to life through fluid, rhythmic lines integrated with technological solar panel elements, where countless points of light converged to form the visual subject of "dialogue." By subtly incorporating soundwave motifs and outlining an Infinity symbol, the design symbolized the blossoming of wisdom through exchange—a perfect harmony of technological depth and modern aesthetics.
We believe that professional conference design must emphasize systematic consistency and continuity. We extended the key visual across all promotional materials and venue layouts. Specifically for the four parallel sessions—"Technological Innovation," "Technical Exchange," "Smart Agriculture," and "Circular Economy"—we designed exclusive color palettes based on their respective themes. These were applied to attendee badges and meeting room decorations. Combined with meticulous flow planning, we ensured that participants could smoothly complete registration and navigate to their assigned parallel session venues with precision.
At the heart of our banquet planning is the creation of "Emotional Connections" and "Event Memories." Recognizing that many distinguished guests were senior engineers residing in the U.S., the 2018 Farewell Banquet adopted the theme of "Nostalgic Childhood Fun." We boldly reimagined traditional directional signage by painting a hopscotch grid on the floor at the entrance, successfully sparking childhood memories and conversation among guests. Furthermore, we arranged a handcrafted silk-screen postcard DIY station, transforming a one-time souvenir into a meaningful social medium. By integrating the event’s visual elements into Christmas and Lunar New Year postcard designs, we enabled guests to write and send festive greetings on their own creations, extending the warmth of the event indefinitely. Through this blend of design ingenuity and lasting value, we allowed a rigorous professional seminar to conclude on a heartfelt and joyful note.
